I'm happy to report that all is done with Fairytale Formals! The clock struck midnight and its time for this girl in a ballgown to go home. Camille and I parted ways on this project on Wednesday and she said she couldn't be happier with our outcomes. Helping to create an online presence for Camille and her business was so rewarding and a lot of fun. I wanted to take some time today to share a quick overview of the project and everything we accomplished.
Photo Shoot
The first major thing we accomplished was a photo shoot with the dresses. We just wanted to get some shots of the dresses in use. We had a lot of fun renting a photo studio and getting some girls to come over and play dress up with us. These girls ended up having a huge part in sharing the photos afterwards as they told all their friends about this exciting new business. The photos turned out really good as well but we just didn't have enough time for what we needed to shoot. So after the photo shoot we booked another studio and asked some more girls to come! While this did set us back slightly, you can never have too many photo shoots. ;)
Instagram
Once we had some content to work with, the Instagram page went up! Camille decided she only wanted to post once a week. She didn't want to have a complicated schedule when it came to posting and she wasn't looking to grow exponentially on Instagram as her main goal for this project was a website. She decided to post every Friday and we had fun talking about hashtags, captions, and editing for her page. The girls we asked to model immediately started following the page and sharing it so all their friends could follow too!
Website
My main job for this project was the website. I knew this was going to be quite the task so I spent hours and hours every week making sure everything was perfect. Camille wanted all her dresses listed online so that people could scroll through her page like they were shopping. However, since her dresses are rent-only, they aren't all available all the time. Each dress needed its own programmed calendar, so that when it was already rented for a weekend, it wasn't available to rent during that time. Each dress had to have information listed such as the size and price, and each dress needed to be labeled under certain categories (color, size, style, etc.)
This was the biggest website project I'd undertaken but I worked hard and it turned out really great. Camille loves it and her clients love that they no longer have to drive to her house to look through her dresses, (although some still do just for the fun of it.) She asks the girls who rent the dresses to send her the photos so she can continue to use the content they're building for her. She continues to post every Friday about a different dress and she is having lots of fun seeing her dresses get rented in a more convenient way.
Overall, I'm so glad I had the opportunity to work with Camille on this project. Her dresses are beautiful and they're such an affordable way for so many girls in this community to look fabulous at every dance. I've learned that while projects like these don't always work out the way you plan, you can have lots of fun and meet lots of amazing people during it. I'm proud of the work I accomplished and I'm happy with the way Camille reacted to everything I did for her! This project definitely ended in a happily ever after.
I look forward to all the projects awaiting me in my future.
